January 5, 2022 – As part of its commitment to transparency and accountability, the BC Provincial Court publishes a report each year informing the public about judges’ and judicial justices’ demographics, caseload statistics, performance on the Court’s operational standards, responses to complaints, and more.
Newly released, the 2021/22 report shows how the Court managed its caseload during the pandemic’s second year. Initiatives like early resolution of family court cases, virtual bail hearings, and virtual case conferences helped the Court end the fiscal year with provincial weighted time-to-trial delays generally similar to 2019’s pre-COVID rate.
