FAMILY AND YOUTH SERVICES

Family and Youth Services – Fraser Valley

PURPOSE

The Family Preservation Support Worker is designed to support Indigenous youth who have contact with community policing bodies who could benefit from health, justice, family and cultural support.

OBJECTIVES

Child Safety and Permanence (ASI-CSP) objectives:

  • The services provided focus on planning to safely return Indigenous children in care to their parents, or where that is not possible, to find temporary or permanent placements with relatives or community members.
  • This program aims to provide culturally relevant support services designed to improve and support case planning and help mitigate risk through more effective decision-making approaches.

HOW WE CAN HELP:

  • We provide culturally relevant support services designed to improve and expedite case planning and help mitigate risk through more effective decision-making.
  • Improve outcomes for Indigenous children in care by providing services and supports to safely return them to the care of their parents, or where that is not possible, to find temporary or permanent placements for them with relatives and/or community members that will be in their best interests.
  • ASI-CSP aligns with the current MCFD 2019 Strategic Framework, specifically the goal of reducing the number of Indigenous children and youth in care or coming into care.
  • ASI-CSP aims to provide effective, responsive and culturally appropriate direct services to improve outcomes for Indigenous children and youth receiving services under the Child, Family and Community Service Act (CFCSA).
