We understand the unique strengths and challenges our Indigenous young people face. We believe youth can make decisions that positively impact their lives. In order to support them in this effort, we have implemented a program called, “Changing Directions in Support of Aboriginal Youth”. Through this first-of-its-kind program in B.C., we are assisting the two communities of Nanaimo and Williams Lake in reaching out to Indigenous youth between the ages of 12 and 18. The program is empowering young people who may need additional support to reach their full potential.

An Aboriginal Youth Support Worker is located onsite at the offices in both cities. The Youth Support Worker assists participating young people and their families as they put an action plan together. The youth themselves will have a key role in creating the action plan. The goal is to support youth reach a healthy, productive lifestyle and to help them succeed in life. This program is supported by Public Safety Canada.
